This was real but tragic story presented in Dr. Madeline Levine’s book See No Evil. In 1996, two young adolescents murdered a disabled man in California by kicking, stabbing, beating, and finally choking him to death. When asked by the police why they poured salt in the dying man’s wounds, one of the boys responded, “Oh I don’t know. I just seen it on TV.”
Although the debate of whether TV violence is responsible for such a violent crime still continues, many parents and researchers believe that violence on TV is damaging to children. Some parents even suggest that TV violence should be censored or banned in order to protect children from harms. As an audience, please write a short essay to discuss what you think should be done about TV violence.
